  • Sweetwater Farm

Sweetwater Farm is a 40 acre working farm on Salt Spring Island, BC. It has been part of the Walls family for three generations.

Our farm is a 7 minute drive from Ganges, the main town centre on Salt Spring. The drive takes you up into the mountains in the centre of the island into our very own Cranberry Valley. Sweetwater Farm lies on the north side of the valley, with the farm houses nestled on the lower slope of Mount Erskine.

Sheltered from the cool Pacific breeze in the low mountain valley, and with nearby sun-baked rock faces warming the air, Sweetwater Farm tends to enjoy warmer temperatures throughout summer than waterfront areas. The Cranberry Valley is virtually an island secret, a hidden idyllic gem not visible from any main road. In summer, hear the crickets buzzing, the birds chirping, and leaves rustling in the trees.

A small number of cows and horses are kept on the farm, and each summer the hayfields in the valley are harvested in a long-running family tradition, with plenty of help from friends and neighbors.

An hour-long hike through forest trails up Mount Erskine take you to Mount Erskine Provincial Park, a peaceful and stunning mountaintop natural park with breathtaking views of Booth Bay and the narrow straights between Salt Spring Island and Vancouver Island.

A short drive away, and you'll reach the popular lookout spot at Mount Maxwell Provincial Park, with views of the Fulford Valley and Burgoyne Bay.

As a visitor to the farm, enjoy warm Salt Spring hospitality, with genuine country charm and views of the valley.
